I bought an Eames Time Life Chair with glides from an auction. I'd like to use it as a computer chair but its a little low. Does anyone know if its possible to easily replace the glides with castors? Where would you buy the castors?

was it
Was it a Time Life lounge chair or a Time Life Office chair? there are different heights. If it is an office chair with glides you can get wheels through Herman Miller. If it is the lounge height you can add casters, but it still will be low.

Its the lounge chair I think...
Its the lounge chair I think - it looks like the lower picture.
I think if I can add casters it will be high enough. Do you know where I would get them? Are they easy to add? (they dont sell Herman Miller in the country I live so I will have to do this myself)

You'd need
You would need to go through Herman Miller. THe process is fairly easy I think - just pop the glides out and pop the casters in.

Check the size
You might want to take out one of your glides (just use a flat head screwdriver and pry carefully) and measure the opening. I beleive they are standard 3/8" stem. I think that the casters are just standard off the shelf parts and you might be able to get them locally or on line inexpensively. I've seen the Time Life and Aluminum Group chairs fitted with different kinds of casters based on the generation and the customer's needs (some have carpet casters).
If a standard caster won't work for you, I'd post a wanted ad on the radar before trying to buy a set from Vitra or Herman Miller. Someone with a broken chair might have set. I may even have an old set lying around. I'll have to check. Is your base 4 or 5 star?
