I've been tring to decide between the Eames Soft Pad Chaise (seems almost impossible to find)and the Kjaerholm Hammock Chaise. Both are rather expensive (c. US $10,000), and I do not have any way of trying them out prior to purchase. Does anyone here have any experience with either of these designs in terms of comfort? I am absolutely in love with the look of the Kjaerholm, but the Eames looks more accomodating.

both = good
i have had both of these.
the soft pad chaise is very comfortable for laying down but very skinny and rather useless for anything but a nap.
it is also quite high and cannot be used for seating for a party etc....
it is a great design and looks great. you can get these on ebay evry once in a while for 1500-2500 so if you decide to go that route wait a few weeks. i have seen three on in the last 5-6 months.
as for the kjerholm daybed, a miuch more usefull piece. pretty comfortable to sit on the edge or to lay down on for a quick nap.. you cannot read in this as you can the eames chaise if you would like. the resale value if you ever think in that direction is much higher on the kjearholm . you can pretty much get your full purchase price back if you ever decide to sell or redecorate. as seen by secondary markets, the chaise retains much less value from the purchase price.
overall, depends on how you will use it..
good luck..
there is always the option of buying both!!
