Picked up this excellent condition chair the other day and noticed a black "AX" stamp in the bottom. After scrolling through old threads in this forum, it seems to have some history but no definitive conclusion to why it's there was found. Just was wondering if anyone had any updates/knowledge of it's existence.
Thanks!

Nothing definitive, but the AX stamp has been said to be a connected to the Fritz Hansen Line ( or distributorship?) in the US around 1954 -1956.
I have seen this stamp on both side and arm shells that date to that time frame.
Your eiffel base appears to have the same glides as are original to my 3-dot (3rd generation Zenith) eiffel base arm shells pair circa 54-56. One has this stamp.
I have also seen this stamp on a 1956 side shell with early x base and the rubber and metal swivel glides that were only used for one year.
This may be similar to what you have already found on the old threads, but I thought it might help. At least it gets the date to a narrow window.
EDIT: Make that early H base with rubber and metal swivel glides.
