Can someone help me identify the veneer at the link? My guess was cherry, but I'm bad at identifying wood species.

Yep,Walnut
I had one in Walnut,so I recognize the grain and color.Cherry would be much less grainy and a warmer tone.

Thanks
all walnut I've seen has more brown than red tones, and this definitely has warm reddish tones. Ha - I'm bad at species but I figured if I could spot anything it would be walnut, sheesh! Looking at the grain though you guys are right - Thanks!

Walnut
Cherry has a much finer grain with very subtle striping. Walnut has a more graphic striped grain.
Also - while cherry definitely turns much more reddish walnut also turns an orangey brown over time and with oxidation.
First picture: cherry
Second Picture: walnut

One fooler
is that the visible faces of the ottoman have been given a reddish tone. Note the upside of the ottoman with cushion removed (last photo): this one surface has a recognizable walnut color.

excellent online reference for wood species
This site is the best I've found for photos of wood species, both unfinished and finished. Click on the thumbnail for a particular wood and you get a whole page of many different samples of that particular wood. Most sites have only one sample so you don't get much of an idea of how the grain pattern can vary---or how age or finish will affect the color. This site is pretty comprehensive.
Be sure to bookmark it if you find it helpful!
