Hi designaddic forum,

I know this is another original/copy thread.

But if you could just take a look at the pictures of this eBay auction from Germany, I would appreciate your opinion.

Thank you,

EFraga

Knock-off!!!
That label was removed from a vintage Eames fiberglass chair, and just stuck on that reproduction lounge.
The leather and button placement on the cushions are off, they are too close together.
Compare with how real cushions and buttons are supposed to look like. The top chair is the chair in that eBay listing, the bottom chair is the authentic Herman Miller. See the difference in button placement and leather?:

I remember these stickers,
they were on US ebay a while ago and there was also a discussion here about them.
It's the second fake chair with such a label I've seen on German ebay (probably the same seller) and despite they look way off it seems they fetch higher bids than other fakes 🙁

Something is wrong
That lounge chair has some real strange problems. The ottoman is mounted off-center on the base, the spider under the chair has gaps between the seat bottom that should not be present, the seat shell looks wrong under the arm, the entire chair does not look vintage it looks new to me. There are just too many issues. I would steer clear

funny
the text says the chair "has a label from Herman Miller" not that it was made by HM... the devil is in the details.

The label is the only thing real about the chair.
Herman Miller placed those labels on the fiberglass shell chairs exported to Canada. Toronto was a distribution center, not a manufacturing plant.
Unfortunately those labels come off very easily, leading to scams like this.

That is such
a shame on so many levels. But, oy vey, anyone looking at that ottoman had to know it was a blatant fake. I mean, it's really, really bad.

Nice to see eBay acting as...
Nice to see eBay acting as per usual. I had complained about this chair, yet they don't seem interested apart from their seller's fee...

side by side!
I found a photo on the Herman Miller site that was taken from the same angle as one of the pics of the fake chair. The most obvious difference is the curve of the shell on the ottomans. Another is the placement of the base on the chair. It's closer to the back of the chair on the real one than on the fake. The spider on the fake ottoman looks too big, as does the head rest.

Opppps .....
Oh ...
Thanks so much to all.
This a good welcome to this world, eh eh...
And I am looking for a old, original American HM, in bad shape, in order to make a personalized upholstery. But this one looked so good.
The leather looked too thin, but since you can choose the leather you want. I though it was possible to have that thin and stretched leather (?).
With eBay being so dangerous, do you know of some good seller in Germany or near?
Thank you again.
