I'm in the process of laying down the price for a Eames Lounge chair.
The question I have is this:
What is the best upgrade leather?
I know that there is the Spiny Back, Dream Cow and the All Grain.
I want to get a Walnut with Black Leather but I really do not know the differences.
I do know I like the feeling of sliding into a slouch position instead of lifting my body up to avoid the sticky feeling of certain leathers. Can any of you avid furniture people give me some advice?
Thanks

I suggest you go try them...
I suggest you go try them out at a showroom. If that's not feasible, request some leather swatches from HM. But as far as being able slide into a chair, I'd imagine all grain and dream cow will do. Definitely not the stock 2109 black leather though. Are you sure about walnut? It's just a little plain I guess. Good luck and keep us posted on your choice and send pix!!

Whilst certainly a classic..
black leather just a bit too predictable on an Eames Lounge. Any other leather color choices in mind? Bright red Spinneybeck with a walnut shell would be my first choice.
carry on,

As long as it's not white or beige which I really dislike on an eames. So dated and does not wear well at all.
I have seen a vintage one in pink leather which was pretty cool but vintage is always cool.

Color
I'm open to any color except white.
Right now we have an knoll white leather sofa, a room and board "Barcelona" chair in camel. I was looking for another piece to put the living room together. We have walnut media credenza and a ivory white area rug.
I was thinking either the black because it's safe and classic, or a blue because we have aren't colors that are blue in the room, I.e. lamp and artwork.
I'm still debating aout which coffee table to get too:, the eames elliptical or the plywood rectangle.

elliptical
The elliptical table is stunning. Especially the vintage ones with the thicker plywood edge.
If you have the room for it, and your particular arrangement works with that shape, I think that the ellipse shape stays very interesting over time. Much more unique and fun than most rectangles.
I would buy a vintage one in a minute, but that table is just too huge for my living room.
As for a leather color for the lounge chair, I've had a burnt sienna 60's one for a long time, and have enjoyed that color very much. Its a bit less "orangey" than the postman's leather color. Not sure what the official color name is.
(And yes Kin, I know I have to get going on that shock mount repair! ... sigh)

I'd go with an espresso brown
if it's available, for the leather color. I like it with walnut and it's just a bit softer in looks than black. Less predictable, too.

I chose
Sable Brown (remember her?) with a cherry shell. I so wish that I had chosen walnut. My leather is whatever is entry level, and I have no complaints after a decade of use. I still want red leather, too..
Sorry about the poor snappy.

Aunt Mark,
I have a red leather Plycraft lounge that I'll trade!
