Whether this sounds silly or not - many of us are not concerned whether or not a copy is more or less comfortable. The fact is, whoever designed this piece copied someone else's work. This "designer" or company did nothing more than jump on the bandwagon to make some money.
If they wanted to design a handsome recliner that's great. They should have taken this opportunity to bring something new to the world. But, clearly they are more interested in making a buck.
Mr. Eames, while I am sure he was also interested in being paid, took the time and energy and risk of doing something incredibly new. That is what most of us are interested in here. Designers and architects that add to the world and build upon history to make a future ....
The person or company behind this chair did nothing of the sort. They really didn't design anything. They just infringed on someone else's hard research, development, and work. What people pay for when they buy the real thing is a piece of history.
Call me a snob. That's fine. Calling people names will not help your business. If you can't see the validity of what I am saying I question why you're even here. I would rather be a snob than an ignoramus.
a lot of people in the ...
a lot of people in the Texas area knew a man named Maurice Burke he is the man in the late 50s and early 60s copied the eero saarinen tulip table and chairs and sold them for half the price,
He always told people his were designed better cause if you leaned back on the knolls they would snap.
maybe true, but the Burke chairs were the ugliest only used on star trek, Saarinens were refined graceful and beautiful 50 years after he designed them.
Burkes are in junk stores across America, for what ever they will bring. shows you at the end of the day a knock off is what it is a knock off!!!
