to clarify i was and am ...
to clarify i was and am still talking about the womb. my friends say go for the ottoman, as well as the ottoman on the
eames Lounge chair,
I hate to say cause i know someone has one, but the most uncomfortable chair i have ever sat in is the Bird chair,
i had a chance to get a vintage one at a estate sale
this summer for 150 with out a ottoman it needed to be repainted/powdercoated and had no ottoman and needed a cover, so I passed,
I was upset with my self at first but i could not get out of the damn thing to save my life,
I had to call my wife for a lift out, something i would hate to do on a daily routine, as i am only in my mid 50's not mid 70's
I have no idea what Bertoia was thinking when he designed that thing it is just too deep in the seat , I have 4 diamonds around here and i love them very comfortable, and cool,

this chair is not worth it to me.
To start off with let me say it is a good looking chair. Now that I have stated that and gotten it out of the way. Lets talk about what a chair should do, and that is to provide comfort. I here people say the Eames lounge chair is very comfortable. Really? I think it is very uncomfortable. I am 5' 10" and weigh 245. this chair is to small for me. If you are 5' 4" this chair will fit you, and you can't be fat like me, you have to be a light weight. I think people buy in to all the hype of this chair, and talk themselves in to believing something it is not. Sure it was made in the 50's, and people were smaller then ( That's what they say), and books were written about it (go Figure). I also hear about how people love the Eames chairs they have. I love my wife and my kids but, I don't love this or any other chair. If you like the chair, and it feels good to you, then buy it. I have set in the real one, and a very good replica, I would buy the replica. Don't get me wrong I like this chair's looks. However, I would not call it the best thought out lounge chair of them All.

Mine (A Vitra as I'm in the UK) was OK when it first arrived, but became really comfy at about 3 weeks. I can sit in it for hours, no prob.
It's a very different concept of comfort. It's firm and supportive, rather like a car seat, and on first sit the modern derriere may say no.
As for the head support, there is none. The upper panel is for the shoulders (I'm about 6ft), so you need to use your neck muscles. in my case, my achy neck is much better as a result.
There is a 'large' version, where the shoulder support is about 50mm higher.
