I think I'm gonna be sick
"They better go back to the drawing board to try to knock that one off better this one looks bad!!!" ... why not go back to the drawing board and make something completely new and great instead of spending time, effort and money on making fun of other people's designs? ... worthless piece of junk.
If I in a few years see my designs being replicated somewhere, I will seriously charter a plane, fill it with my rather large male friends and armed lawyers, visit the man behind the scam and start asking him some uncomfortable questions.
load the plane
you could do that right now just head as far east as you can and you should end up in China by the next day . That is where all the good stuff and all the bad stuff is coming from, just depends which factory you visit first. That LE CHAISE IS JUST BAD LOOKING if you are in to buying reproductions at least try to find one that is close and good looking and looks like the original.
......kinda sad that the ...
......kinda sad that the Vitra La Chaise is soooooooo expensive $8300.00
U.S. Dollars is by far one of the most expensive items i have seen from any one in a long time, with the exception of the Egg chair in Leather New by Fritz Hansen a nice crisp $10,000 that chair with the ottoman will set you back . any orders???
Sad indeed...
...not for just this product. It is sad to see that a country like China with a rich history of impressive contributions to world culture is behaving so iresponably on world markets. Right now we have shipment of fake Golgate toothpaste circulating in Canada's drug stores, contaminated with bacteria dangerous for most human beings and mortal for the weakest. It is made in China and fortunately recognizable because of a number of spelling mistakes. Sometimes it is a blessing that they can't seem to get it right. This "La chaise" attempt is only one of the growing number of sad examples.
I would not make the trip M_Andersen. Hong Kong is a wonderful city but if my memory serves me well even the average policeman does not reaches the age of 35. But I understand the feeling. When I was a much younger designer some Italian manufacturers were as well known for "replicating" as a number of Chinese factories now. I visited one of them with the purpose to ask these difficult questions. First of all he refused to speak either french or english although we had met before under normal circumstances and he spoke both languages very well. So he understood my questions and the translation by his secretary gave him some extra time to formulate his answer. When I announced that I would persue the discussion in court he predicted that I would not be able to find a lawyer in Milan to take up my cause, that's how well known he said he was. I did not phone all lawyers but after two dozen or so I gave up. He was right. The moral of the story is: learn Mandarin
