Hey all

part II of II in my series of "real or fake" threads :p

I recently picked up this Eames elliptical table on Craigslist. I was very happy to find this because I've been wanting one for some time!

It looks like an authentic Herman Miller piece to me, but the one thing that makes me question the authenticity is the Herman Miller medallion. It appears that it has been pried off of a different piece and then attached (with superglue?) to this piece. See the photo and judge for yourself. I can't think of why this would have been done.

Aside from the medallion, is there any way of ascertaining the authenticity of an elliptical table? The width dimension is a little bit off of what is listed on Herman Miller's website...

The reproduction tables that I've seen are the smaller Vitra-exclusive Euro-dimensioned size whereas this is the 89-inch length size. But that's not to say someone out there didn't produce this table in the larger American dimensions.

Also, is there any way to place an approximate year of manufacture? There is oxidation on the screws and bases which suggests that it has been around for a while, but when did Herman Miller begin reproducing these tables? I don't think that the original production tables had a medallion.
