My clear recollection
is that they were fiberglass armshells in a pale oyster-grey -- if that jibes with one or another of the factory colors. I can't be sure of the base of the chair -- nor what table was used, though I think it might have been the small round Saarinen table ? Or a simpler design. . .
Anyone else recall?
Does anyone else recall seeing Eames chairs at MoMA - and not as museum 'objects'? I'm kinda fascinated by this idea that something is on display in one part of the museum, and in use in others.
-and also because I've acquired some shells that the previous owner say come from MoMA. They are black & parchment stacking shells. He thinks they came from the auditorium. His aunt worked at MoMA and nabbed a few chairs when she left. She's recently died so he cannot ask her. I know it's almost impossible to prove direct provenance, but its a great story nonetheless! And - these things are in GORGEOUS shape!
