I'm looking at picking up a tilt/swivel Aluminum Group lounge chair with 5 feet, I really like the look of the four-foot bases better. Is this something that would be interchangeable and swapped out relatively easily? If so, what chair should I be looking to find a donor base from? Thanks in advance.

Hi ZooMob! I too have...
Hi ZooMob! I too have considered switching the bases of my 5-foot aluminum chairs, however, I'd take the originality of the piece into consideration. As design addicts, most of us have a great appreciation for the originality of a design. Granted, the most original had a 4-foot base, however, your chair is most original with it's current base. With a different base, your chair will be less valuable and less original. To me, it would also be somewhat impure. If you are really itching for a 4-foot chair, I would just switch. Get a great older example and sell your current piece! While this may seem inconvenient, switching the base would just seem wrong. It mixes generations. Its like putting covered headlights on a late 60's or early 70's Jaguar XKE. It looks nice, but its ethically saddening.
My apologies for the bubble bursting.
Kindly,
David

Also, to add, it would most...
Also, to add, it would most definitely work to switch them. As long as its not being swapped with an early 60's example with the more retro base, it should work nicely. It also depends on whether you have the tilt-swivel or just swivel.
Kindly,
David
