I want to recover the torn fabric seat from an Eames Aluminum Side Chair.
Can anyone tell me how I get the material out from the frame?

don't even try it!
those chairs are made using industrial machines, hence home recovers are always disapointing. those chairs seem to do best when recovered in the newer mesh h.m. fabric done by a profesional.
consider repairing or patching the fabric.
good luck!

This is very interesting to...
This is very interesting to see how these chairs go together. They are actually held in with pins, that get removed from the upper side (under the fabric).
They were originally put together without the strechers between the side rails. You have to remove the base and stretcher behind the back support, remove the cap screws on the side rails, fold the fabric up, and somehow force the pins out. They are about 6 inches apart, and will seem like prying nails loose. It takes talent to get apart! Plus special tools like drift punches, and mucho patience.
