A while back I had a dream that my wellness center clients would only sit in the greatest most comfortable chairs. We do a good job healing so the universe has given us 4 great chairs to reup/ fix up and make great. I now have 2 sets of two that match identically. All were bought at separate times and each cost $80, $75, $75, $75. Two had ottomans. The chocolate brown one is currently being used although it needs some new foam (I sit a pillow when company isn't around) & if I'm going to do that I might as well recover it too.
I had first hopped I had two Plycrafts & two Seligs. Come to find out, all were Seligs. One of each has a Selig tag. The bright side is that the Selig (IMHO) is the comfiest of all the 670's. My clients, regardless of size, fit them and love them. The two standing ones I cover in a heated blanket and use only in a darkened room for hypnosis. Talk about a deep trance.

The one on the ground is in perfect mechanical condition and has mint wood. I took it apart to see how big the job will be. After a few moments of dread I think it might be easier then I first thought. I have a good template from old fabric, only need staples, foam is till good enough to get rough sizes. I have a killer Pfaff sewing machine to make my camping supplies & household sewing. ( I'm manly, really. My wife makes me kill the spiders.) So all in all, I'm not to afraid.

Anyone have suggestions on materials. I don't want to kill more cows and I don't want to stick to anything when I sit in the summer. Any ideas on earthy options?

I will be doing this project on my new blog! (I sold the old one for the few of you here that know the old one. I can't say the old blogs name or even mention I created it, has to look like the new owner started it, so to those of you who know plz don't spoil the good sale. thx)the blog link is below

If anyone knows of a good tutorial or any other resources for recovering these please link to it. I have seen nothing complete and am starting one on my blog for better or worse.
Namaste,
GuruJ

Search Spanky
Search "Spanky" and "LuciferSum" and you will find a number of threads in which Spanky and I compare notes about reupholstering these chairs.

Below is a link to one of the threads on this forum where some of us discussed repholstering Plycraft & Selig lounge chairs. Feel free to add to it if you want.
If you choose to go with fabric over leather, check out Ebay. I've gotten tons of high quality fabrics through Ebay for next to nothing---Maharam, Knoll, Unika Vaev, Kravet, etc., retailing for $75-150/yd, I paid $10/yd! I love ebay.
Where are you located? PA Fabric Outlet in Lemoyne and Lancaster, PA, sells a lot of Knoll fabrics for $8-15/yd. Really nice stuff but it's an outlet, so selection is hit-or-miss.

I fixed the picture link and...
I fixed the picture link and have the lin at the bottom to the new blog post.
Thanks for the links. I was impressed with some of the Knoll & found some Joseph Noble that was killer. Their fake leathers were amazing. They had some suede looking microfiber thing that was really nice & looked real. I used to be in the design world (dad's business) and got some samples. I already know I can't afford their retail prices.
I will be ordering my swivel mechanics tomorrow so I need to get some fabric going!
thanks again....
