This is an increasing trend. There are several other "marketplaces" with the same format and I'm liking it to early Darwinian dot com ventures. This trend seems to be a reaction to current state of affairs for collectors as well as a reaction to eBay.

Hi,
I have produced the klassikmobelkunst
website. There is nothing dodgy about it and genuinely no fees involved.I was also sick of 10% fees.
Hope to get my money back through corporate advertising in future if i have a busy site to interest them, while also keeping the site free for users. If you make a good sale through the site and feel like making a $10 donation great if not thats fine too.
Happy to answer any comments,
All the Best,Jon
Dear Jon
Best of luck in your new endeavor. If you plan on targeting English speakers, you might want to consider a different name for your site. If you transpose your two last letters, you get a baaaaad word. (Of course, maybe you intended to do that!)
At least it's not as bad as in Prague. The Czech word for "gifts" is "Darky". Quite startling to walk around town and every other shop has "Darky" painted all over the front of it in giant capital letters.
Hi Ricky, Mobel-Furniture...
Hi Ricky,
Mobel-Furniture Kunst-Art, Danish translation
Understand your concerns but was originaly aimed at europe, which is i believe the largest marketplace for classic design,no slight on the U.S intended.
Would be a good place for U.S sellers to list Eames lounge chairs and Barcelona chairs if they can find decent shipping options, other HM items such as time life stools,LCWs and any Evans or Zenith products always go down well this side of the atlantic.
Cheers,Jon
Dear Bentply, when you are...
Dear Bentply, when you are at your bakery, do you shout out 'hey everybody there is another bakery that just opened at the corner of the street!' ?
We find it totally inappropriate to promote a website that is competitive to ours on our forum.
As a reminder, Design Addict offers the Design Radar, a marketplace with the following advantages:
- the free listing of your objects (without pictures) or for a very small fee (an average price of $3,45 per listing for the partners).
- no commission on the sales.
- a search tool that is more complete than klassikmobelkunst.
- more than 100 000 unique visitors by month.
- more than 11 years experience.
- each listing is curated before going online (limiting the risk of copies or rubish).
- and much more...
and last but not least, the money earned through this marketplace is used to maintain and improve this forum, the design index, the blog... with a free access to everyone!!!
By the way Jon, contacting...
By the way Jon, contacting sellers via ebay to convince them to use a competitive website is not only unrefined but it also infringes the internal rules of ebay.
To start a business by using illicit processes is probably not the best way to build the credibility of your company.
Says everything when a U.K...
Says everything when a U.K website uses a Danish name,i agree, tells you something about the size of the design market in the U.K.Have been selling here a long time with most of my best items being sold to France,Germany,Denmark etc.The market is just smaller in the U.K
Will not talk about the site here anymore, have no wish to step on any toes.
Best wishes,Jon
