Came across this painting today while on vacation. I don't know who the artist is but the signature appears to read Gordon m. Corson. Can't quite place a finger on why this seems familiar to mr. Anyone know anything about the artist?

Maybe it seems familiar because
the subject bears a resemblance to Commander Uhura?

I find the
way the subject is rendered -- the facile and perfectly symmetrical modeling of the face, indeed the utter and lifeless symmetry of the whole image -- reminiscent of the skills that illustrators learn in art school, not the mature product of a painter. As such, it is the kind of art that one sees on the walls of movie sets, or in galleries aimed at tourists and casual shoppers of "sofa-sized" paintings . . .

Thanks SDR but not quite. I know I've seen this style before exactly with the weird black hollow eyes. I just can't remember where.

Sorry to thread-jack, Dee Dee
but that Keane painting reminds me of something I discovered online a year or so ago-- pageant photo-retouching!
Feast your eyes, SDR:

I can't forget the saddest specimen of all,
poor little Candice, still in diapers:

Eeeeeeew 2
Maybe it's just the makeup. The big-eye thing itself isn't much creepier than having some art student do a pastel "caricature" at the mall.

I am thoroughly and without...
I am thoroughly and without a doubt creeped the hell out. They look like dolls you'd see Marie Osmond selling on QVC.

I guess you'd find my own pageant self-portrait equally creepy, then.
