Maybe we've all gone off the straight and narrow a few times, I sure have (regrets, there have been a few) but SDR is 100% right, well mannered comments make a huge difference and all credit to people like Spanky who always come across so well.
I'd love to see more discussion about new design, or how we live with these things or why we enjoy them but the ID threads dominate, for good or worse, while it would be good to read deeper discussions at least the fact that people care so much about looking after things or restoring them, well it leaves me with some optimism about what the future of consumption of household goods might be.
Perhaps the new forum structure should be
ID and valuations
Everything else
To make more divisions might be counter productive
And please Dear God no Vbulletin drop in, hateful format.

site:designaddict.com search term
You all might know this: Google allows users to search this site (e.g., type into Google: "site:designaddict.com sofa compact") and gives you the thread title of all results.
Some of the threads here are the funniest on the internet--the fight over the Chiclet sofa and 420 stealing a Saarinen from McDonald's.
I should also thank the owners.

Oh, THANK you!
That's great to know, wooden! And yes, there's some hysterical stuff here. I very much like that the forum isn't set up like those where messages scroll off, never to be seen again. I hate those.
Heath, you are much too kind!

Re: search feature
I would suggest to Patrick and Alix to improve the search feature a bit, but fundamentally not to spend much time or money on that. Instead offer instructions for searching via google. Google does a really great job of searching sites. And there isn't much point in trying to compete against it.
For me design is a strongly visual subject, and making it so that uploading photos is easier is the biggest positive change that could happen. That would probably mean the photos are stored on designaddict itself. And I have a few ideas about how that could be done inexpensively.

Welcome
Welcome back, Mark. I, for one, am very happy to see you back, and it appears that many others feel the same.

That reminds me.
A personal profile with a PM link might be a nice feature for those wishing to conduct further conversation or business off the forum. Optional, of course.
Image hosting could be offered to members willing to pay a nominal fee to help defray associated costs, but the current system seems to mostly work.
Also, I think with the personalities and talents common to the regulars here, the forum can be largely self-moderated. It might sometimes help to be able to flag offenders, though.

I think the offenders
have already been collectively flagged and are now noticeable by their absence.

I am simply overwhelmed by the plethora-o-love.
And my deepest gratitude to all, especially Patrick and Alix who have provided me with this gift of a forum, at no cost. I've been reluctant to post recently, as I've been hoping that this thread would somehow disappear. My usual good manners have elevated to the next level, so expect no silly snappies for a bit...
Hugs, highballs and canned hams to all,
Aunt Mark
ps. Leif, your post was too lovely, and you can have your pick of one of my modern classics upon my death...or decor change.

stalker(s)
I'm sure it's difficult to prove that people are using multiple user names with a dynamic IP address, etc. Patrick and Alix, anyone with computer skills - is there anything that can be done to monitor this?
