Can't see the picture
On that one Whitespike, but I went the guy's website and I love the "classic" dining table. Simple, somewhate rustic, and perfectly suited to contrast the airy lightness of the Bertoias.

Good example of what I'm...
Good example of what I'm looking for design-wise, whitespike. Beginning to lean toward the old-fashioned parsons table. As I already have a Noguchi Cyclone dining table which will do nicely in my breakfast nook, I'm looking for more capacity with this design for the formal dining. Hence, the rectangular requirement.
Also, I'll now need another set of dining chair to surround the Cyclone table. Again in the interest of contrast, looking for wood...

Similar
I have a similar chunky table in solid teak. Works well with DCMs.

In black?
I could see the natural Thonet chairs looking spectacular around the Noguchi table. But the painted wood I'm not so sure about.

There's a beauty by Gilbert Rohde on ebay right now. Did you already buy something?

Farther away now than when I started, Riki...
Contemplating completely overhauling the new place floors and all which leaves me at square one in terms of color scheme and basically everything else... My wife's complaints over the comfort of Bertoia sides now has me looking for other options there. And what's worse, I'm leaning toward being rid of my Noguchi Cyclone as well. Hooray.

If it's comfort you want,...
If it's comfort you want, then you should consider the Saarinen executive series .... although upholstery and food don't mix well. But they sure do fine nice on the tush.

Anyone have a recommendation for a good dining table? One that seats 4 people. I kind of like the round ones. I'd especially like to find one where you don't have to worry about damaging it if you put a hot dish or something wet on it. I don't like dealing with coasters and placemats. Dining room area (not room) is 88 inches by 92 inches. Buy an apartment in Metn
