Hello,

I came across this set of 4 dining chairs. They have a wegner style to them, but I can't find any marks or other identification. Anyone seen chairs like this before?

Here are photos of the chairs

Here is a photo of the dining set with the table

Here is a photo of the makers mark on the table. Anyone seen this mark before?

The chairs are by the Danish designer Erik Kirkegaard.

Hmm
The arms on the chairs of the OP are not as wide. My guess is they are American made, possibly Gunlocke.

view from the top
Here is a shot from the top for a different perspective. Hard to tell if the width is much different, but the grain is more pronounced in the red chair.
Any idea what a set like this may be worth?

I see what you mean Woody, the OP chairs have a pronounced flat top running around the very edge of the backrest whereas the Kirkegaard chair is gently curved and rounded off.

Hmm
You're right... from that angle they do look more similar. I guess H. Moon is probably correct then.
Is there anything you can make out from the stamp?

updated mark photo
I took another photo of the "M" mark on the bottom of the table and updated the thread. Should be clearer now.

Moll Inc.
It's hard to see in the photo, but the words to the right of the M appear to be Moul or Molll Inc.

Auction for similar chairs
These chairs appear to be identical to mine.
Interesting that this chair seems to be a desk side chair. This makes sense because the dining set I have is really low. The table must have been added because the chair height is much lower than a normal dining chair.
Thanks everyone for the input!

There is a set of Kirkegaard ...
There is a set of Kirkegaard chairs for sale on Craigslist (nine for $2000), branded with the "Imported by DUX" mark, so it look like DUX brought some of them to the U.S.

pop
to confirm the last note, I just picked up ONE identical, and it says DUX made in Denmark and then a tag saying whom it was imported by, so yes it appears that these were made by Dux in Denmark and then imported.

Kirkegaard tangent
Since this thread has a lot of Erik Kirkegaard discussion, I thought I'd do a little tangent rather than starting a new thread.
Has anyone ever seen this Kirkegaard bench available in the US?
http://www.danish-homestore.com/acatalog/info_121.html
In searching for an entry bench for my place, I came across this page from a Google search. While I can find numerous Kirkegaard chair designs similar to this on other searches, I cannot find another image or reference to this particular bench design anywhere.
Unfortunately for me, it seems the only bench designs that I like are this one (which I only have one reference photo), and the Risom U620 bench, which 1stDibs dealers hold hostage above my price range. I know Benchmark now makes new Risom benches, but I would prefer to buy original.

Kirkegaard
In all my time dealing with these great chairs i have only eave come across 2 versions of the chair made as a bench.
The benches are variations on chairs model 43 & 56
I know of a set of 8 teak ones which i covet but risk my life should I sell them as my mom would surely kill me!!
grew up with these great chairs.
S698 is model 56
Bath set is model 43 with model 56 chairs
