Hey there I have a desk lamp and I want to stick a dimmer switch on its cord. I don't want to go into a hardware store and buy something new and generic, I'd rather get something vintage... any suggestions of where to find something like this? I guess if a switch is vintage and still works good it will stay on its lamp. So maybe this is too specific to find.

My hubby, who
is in the electrical business in Europe, says that, if you don't want to mess up your vintage lamp, buy a "dimmer socket" which is a dimmer control that plugs into your electrical outlet.
You would then plug your vintage lamp into the new dimmer control which is plugged into the wall and voila!
He can give you more specifics if you cannot find this "dimmer socket" in your local hardware store.
(BTW, these even come with a remote control, so you should ask for a "remote control dimmer socket", if you don't want to get up off of your couch.
