Hi everybody,

I've got a question for you fanatics out there (or actually a couple of questions)
I've recently bought this leather elephant by Dimitri Omersa.
The problem is,as you can see on the pics, it's a bit worse for wear.
One of the hind legs has been chewed upon by some feline creature.
And the tail is missing. The rest of the leather is in good nick.
Questions are as follows:

Should I redo the leather (probably yes), but only the hind leg or recreate the tail as well.

Will this ad/subtract substantially to the value, as I am probably looking to sell it on (my daughter does not like it :-))

If it needs to be done and anybody of you fanatics out there knows a good leather man in Belgium please let me know.

Thanks in advance

Michel

Hi
I would restore and repair as best as possible to the original state. If you can add a tail that looks close to the original, I believe that will be more appealing than without a tail.

what woody said.
and...it was probably a canine..not a sweet feline that chewed the leather (or perhaps a twisted youngster). Forget about the tail, and I think it's a girl.
congrats,
Aunt Mark

Thank you
Woodywood and Mark thanks for your advice.
What would be a reasonable budget that one needs for such a repair.
Ps Mark if it was a member of the canine species it was one of those steroid infused rats that you can house in a miniscule Vuitton handbag, cause the teethmark were tiny.

very good point, michelm, but
I'd guess that the damage was caused by a "sharp toothed" hungry unattended 2 year old toddler whom craved more than attention. I like your elephant.
Best,
Aunt Mark
