I can't help but look at this chair and think of someone schussing down the slopes. 🙂

Yes, i agree. it absolutely...
Yes, i agree. it absolutely does NOT feel right. However, "the product" featured in the above photo consists of a (rocking bars) addition to an existing AJ chair, marketed as such:
"... an exquisite extension to Arne Jacobsen’s famous 3107: rocking vats. It takes less than 5 minutes to attach them to your 3107 and voila, you have an unbelievably stylish rocking chair.
One of the premiere design hotels in Berlin, the Ku’damm 101, has chosen to refurnish all their 3107's into rocking chairs. And it’s easy to see why: the vats add a layer of functional beauty to an already gorgeous chair, which fit perfectly with the soft fluid forms."
It gets even worse: the darn thing has won a design price ! The original idea was (if i remember correctly) to create an additional function for the AJ classic, analogue to that other (series of fibreglass shell chairs) classic: the Eames RAR.
To me, no price winning contribution, and if this were film instead of design, rather a contestant for the Razzies, than for the Oscars..

beech
If I wanted these skis in the first place, why can't I have proper Teak to match my 1960s set? Pah.
Teak beats all other surfaces on these [/snob].
