Atlanta Market
Hi, Coff. The biggest gift and accessories market in America that I have been to dozens of times is in Atlanta, Georgia. The two biggest accessories shows held there are in January and July. You must be a wholesale buyer to attend this market, though. The website is americasmart.com.
I might be able to help you more if you gave me some specifics about what you are looking for. Cheers, Riki

Fairs
Hola Claff:
I think there are different kinds of fairs.
I would divide design fairs in 2 - 3 types:
Young design/avant grade/trends contemporary design with more emphasis on design
And the ones related with that design, but with more emphasis on the commercial side. And are most for wholesale buyers.
There are also antiquaries, crafts, and combinations of all of them
Here are some, the ones I,ve been following:
In Europe you can find, in the first group,
La feria de Milan (of course!) in Italia (and the fuorifiera!), 100% design in London,
http://www.100percentdesign.co.uk
And in the second group Ambiente by Messe Frankfurt (in Frankfurt 🙂 ) and La Maison & Objet in Paris
http://ambiente.messefrankfurt.com/frankfurt/en/home.html
http://www.messefrankfurt.com/corporate/en/
http://www.maison-objet.comhttp://www.maison-objet.com/en/index.php?page=videos
in US:
in the first group
ICFF en New Cork, http://www.icff.com
and in the second. . .
check riki source!
But with this international fairs research
What about some orient fair?
Why not to see the ,,same,, objects, just without packaging and less glamour but 2-3 times cheaper? 🙂
In Hong Kong: http://hkfurniturefair.hktdc.com/
the general, with all fairs http://www.hktdc.com/
(Wholesale)
[Of course not all will be so ease, they,ll ask for huge quantities, full containers, etc]
And in the end, why not add others fairs?
South American fairs:
Claff, Where do you live? I think there must be some interesting fairs, near where you are.
I,m from Buenos Aires, and here you could find in the first-design group ,,Puro Diseño,, and now ,,Kontrat Concept,, and ,,cienporcientodiseño,,. Are smaller endeed, but if you want to talk about quality, we could go on talking. http://www.kontrastconcept.comwww.feriapurodiseno.com.ar
and in the second: Presentes and CAFIRA. (whosellers)
Tell me if you want to go to any of them, you,ll surly find me, as an exhibitor or as visitor I,ll be in all of them.
If you want to find an advantage here, is that there is a niche, in price-quality-quantity: (now) a little more expensive than China, but you could get more personalized design/products, and in small quantities.
(Don,t even think on a full container!)
In Brasil there is also a huge one, on the commercial side, but I don,t have it the name at hand now.
I have to tell you that I only visited the ones from here.
If you could go to one, or more than one of those ,,internationals,, and make a comparison, please tell us!
Ps:Where are you come from?
Che! De donde sos?
Con que fin las quieres visitar?
Ie: Sos un diseniador que busca inspiración y tendencias y/o compras personales?
O un comerciante que necesita comprar mercaderia para hacer negocios o local al publico o distribuidor?
Saludos
Gustavo

.
Riki: Thanks for the data! How huge is the fair, how many days do you need to visit it?, is one or two days enough? Mmm, I considering visit it on January. Are you going to go? I don?t want to trod on your foot without knowing that are you. 🙂
I had the idea you had more an antiquaries only, but it seems you pick one thing from here other from there, interesting . . .

The Atlanta Market
Hola, Gustavo! The Atlanta Market es muy, muy grande! It consists of 3 skyscrapers all connected together by aerial walkways. Two of the buildings are 18 stories tall and the third building is 22 stories. Each of these stories has between 20 and 50 showrooms. They say that it is over 6 million square feet of showroom space. If it is your first time, you will need at least four days to see everything.
Also, you are very lucky because you will register as an "International Buyer" and you will be treated like a rockstar. International Buyers have their own private lounge at the market, their own personal guides, they don't have to wait for help in the showrooms, they jump right to the front of every line for the elevators. The American buyers are always jealous of the International buyers!
You do not have to buy by the container load. You just have to meet the minimum order in each showroom. Furniture showrooms generally have a minimum of 6,000 USD. The other showrooms that have tableware, gifts, lamps, candles, etc. have much smaller minimums, like 400 USD.
I used to own a number of different kinds of retail stores, not just an antiques store, so I am familiar with the Dallas Market, the Las Vegas market and the High Point, North Carolina market, but the Atlanta market tops them all. I have also heard that the Mexico City market has some really great stuff. Have you been to that market?

Thanks Riki!
Thanks to your comments I came to Atlanta to attend/visit as a buyer, to the AmericasMart Atlanta. Very interesting. I left the family to find them back in Orlando. Hahaha.
Thanks a lot, I owe you a glass of wine?
