That's the answer of Patrick...
That's the answer of Patrick that we have liked:
"Dear Stephen
On Design Addict we are for the freedom of speech but against insults and personal attacks which are sterile and unpleasant for all the readers. Setag's intervention seems relevant and should be a challenge for you because I suppose that as a very good journalist you are, you must be curious about all the facets of IKEA phenomenon. Contrary to Setag, I think that you must accept this invitation - in an objective and complete approach, you should benefit from this opportunity to clarify the point raised by Setag. Anyone who knows the history of the design can only be questionned about the regular plagiarism of Scandinavian cultural heritage operated by IKEA through many objects which are very, very strongly inspired by some design classics. Perhaps you could also ask them about the working conditions of their subcontractor's workers in India and China. Oh yes, and don't forget to question them about the ecological criteria which prevail in their production.
I really envy you. It is a great subject for a great journalist.
Here is a link to an interesting study to help you prepare your trip."

I'm all for civility.
I know this thread has branched away from it's initial intent as to design resources, but I would wholeheartedly agree with Antonella and LRF and others as to how well this forum works when everyone is civil and polite. I also have learned a ton here and love the lively exchange. I found this forum when searching for a solution to an A/V equipment wall mounting problem and SDR and others were most helpful. The solution I was able to effect with their encouragement, thrills me every time I see it. But then there came a time refering to the thread where the writer was so excited about an upcoming trip, and how quickly it got real nasty and ugly was a complete turnoff. In fact it caused me to stay away for quite some time as that thread and several others of that period quickly fell to petty bickering and some downright nastieness. Not wanting to sound pollyanish, but my vote is for civility. As DA's we should be evolved beyond crudeness and meanspiritedness, to say nothing of the fact that life is so short, why should we waste it throwing stones. Except of course when one of us as been wronged by outside forces, to which I would endorse as a last resort; "To the ramparts DA's to the ramparts I say" "Full speed ahead and damn the torpedos" If one is one is permitted to mix their battle cries. But my default would always be for civility. Have a great weekend one and all.

Ref:
I thought I would revive this thread as people always seem to be looking for good reference books, maybe we could add to the list and then bury this thread again for future DAs to dig up.
(also there is a great link to an old DA beef, for the people who like drama)

For beautiful furniture and interiors photos then my fav is
"Les décorateurs des années 60-70". There are others in the series and all nice books too but this one for me is the one I always go back to for inspiration.
