Hi guys,
I ordered a Saarinen tulip table with a white laminate top during the recent Knoll sale. It was delivered and assembled today by a moving company.
Either the people who came today or someone in their dock who unpacked it left greasy fingerprints all over the table. I've wiped it down with Windex but I still see shadows of the grease stains there (I promise it's not just in my head).
I'm reluctant to use SoftScrub or anything harsher than Windex on a brand new table. Or is it okay to do so? Please advise.
Laminate should not be stained by greasy fingerprints, should it? They could be anywhere from 4 days (how long the moving company has had it in their possession) to a few hours old.
So much for "white glove" delivery...
Thank you for any suggestions.
For removing something...
For removing something greasy from Formica, I would use mineral spirits (paint thinner) or cigarette lighter fluid. Neither will damage Formica, and both dissolve grease and oil very well. If they do not work, I would next try rubbing alcohol.
Edit: I install Formica all the time, and often use mineral spirits to clean residual contact adhesive off the Formica before the glue sets up completely.
tchp, thanks for your reply...
tchp, thanks for your reply and suggestions!
So the likelihood of any real permanent damage from greasy fingerprints (can you tell I'm ignorant about laminate/materials generally) is minimal? Because I'd rather start hassling them now rather than later about any real damage.
Thank you!
No, full blooded American...
Southerner at that. But yeah, I've got a bit of British influence to be sure... from growing up listening to the British invasion and watching Monty Python to being a massive European(mostly English Premier league) football fan.
I don't mingle well with the natives, if you'll believe it.
