Anyone care to venture a guess as to whether this wall piece is a Cado? I believe it is Walnut and the only marking I see is "made in Denmark" on the back.
I found the previous post on Danish wall units very informative and am hoping you will educate me as well.
On a related not: are the "PS System" units comepletely separate from Poul Cadovius-designed pieces? I'm confused because I sometimes see the two names mentioned in the same sentence, but not sure if Cadovius designed for PS Systems or if they are just similar products.
Thank you in advance for your help!
Thank you Robert!
I appreciate your knowledge.
Amongst the different Cado systems, are some of higher quality than others? Or is it purely personal preference when deciding between, for example, a Royal system and a system with the wooden brackets?
Are Cado units usually marked with something in addition to "made in Denmark"?
I'm trying to figure out if there's something I should look for to discern whether the unit I've posted pictures of (which someone might be willing to sell me) is a Cado or not.
Thank you again.
The
double hole configuration, and the shelf brackets look like Cado to me..
PS systems have dowels or metal pins that go through the uprights sideways to support the cabinets, which have metal brackets- rather than pins on the cabinets..
I currently have a system here that is just marked 'Made In Denmark'
it is better quality than a PS, but not marked as Cado ..so I'm not sure -mine have an odd feature that the key escutcheons are on their sides..no idea why, but they appear original
Fascinating..
you are all a wealth of information! Thanks for sharing.
The one thing I wish is that the unit had a magazine shelf - for some reason I just LOVE those tilted shelves!
I've searched ebay and I'd even spend $ for overseas shipping if I could just get a matching magazine shelf or two! Ah well, this is the plight of vintage furniture owners I suppose...
