I bought this Moreddi table awhile ago, and decided today to give it a little Danish oil treatment. I am pretty sure when I got it I was able to remove the lower tray by releasing the stretchers on the shorter side. It's hard to explain, but the end of the stretcher has a screw that fits into a metal lined hole which is wider on one side, so it can be moved. I might have even been able to remove them completely. So today I try to do it again just ....because. I was able to get the stretcher to move upwards, but not so far as to allow the lower shelf to slide out, so I try rotating it and again and again, until I STUPIDLY started splintering the wood. It's a terrible feeling to damage your own!
But if this table was designed to have a removable shelf, can anyone tell me why?
For obvious reasons, I cannot provide a photo of this detail.
And of course any ideas as to the designer are appreciated.

Knock down?
I am wondering if the table was designed as a "knock down" piece which was shipped disassembled. All of my France & Sons Ole Wanscher furniture was designed that way.
But,... I'm no expert on this, so I hope the real ones out there offer their opinions and share their knowledge.
I think that temperature or humidity may have contributed to your problem. It doesn't take much for tight tolerances to get...well, "tighter".

Yes, I think that's right
It was designed to be shipped flat. I actually photographed the detail when I bought the piece and forgot.
Thanks for you help.
