Hi!
I just bought an Uldum Mobelfabrik chair. The chair is in very good condition.
Only two dowels (i'm not sure of the term to use) are missing. I'm talking about the metal pins that support the seat of the chair. You can see the pins I'm talking about on the picture. I was wondering if somebody could help me and tell me were I could buy these "dowels".
At least, could somebody tell what alternatives do I have if it isn't possible to find these parts.
Thanks you!
Its highly likely you wont be able to find or buy an original Uldum part.
You can try taking one of the original metal dowels to a metal worker nearby and asking them if they could knock one up for you, I think you are going to have to improvise on this one.
Your lucky the part in question is under the seat and out of view but there is no reason why a metal workshop cant fabricate a pretty good match to the original.
Metal rods of various widths...
Metal rods of various widths and lengths are available at hardware stores. I ran into a similar issue when I was missing some of the brass rods used to hang my Cado cabinet units. I found suitable substitutes at the hardware store (I think they were steel). What you find at the hardware store will not be an exact match, but with a little improvisation, it should not be too much of a challenge. As mentioned previously, your dealing with the mostly non-visible underside of the chair. Slight variations between dowels should not be an issue.
