Simon says
That he can be wrong at times but have a few hidden aces up his sleave that allow him the freedom to make judgment calls.
These are.
The rotex webbing is danish made and used frequently in early 1950s seating.
The flat nut fixture is again a typical time period indicator that puts the chair in the right frame.
The fabric is the same "wonderul copenhagen" that was used by france and son on the hvidt fd118 daybed and again fits the time frame of 1955 -1960.
Sadly not able to inspect the item in person close up but based in the above and scrutiny of the images is what leads me to say henry rolschau made.
Look for any makers marks once you strip the chair down and take pics if possible.
I watched that exact posting...
I watched that exact posting for quite a few weeks but never made it up to take a look at them in person due to moving into a new house. I loved the look of the chair and sofa from the photos. I'm happy the chair made it into good hands and look forward to seeing it once it's been reupholstered!
Well if Simon says he can be...
Well if Simon says he can be wrong he must be right. Past results notwithstanding.
Simon: what is the story with this "Wonderful Copenhagen" fabric? In my excellent furniture company catalog it advertises the use of the same fabric. Is it a company? A specific line from some company? All I know it is 80% wool & 20% cotton.
Modern-Fabrics
My upholstery guy recommended modern-fabrics as well. I am thinking about getting these two fabrics-
Maharam ⁄ Maharam Hallingdal by Kvadrat 460760 : 674 (classic red)
Maharam ⁄ Maharam Hallingdal by Kvadrat 460760 : 116
What do you all think?
Should I request to have the nails put back in instead of staples?
Ah Ha!
Samsmodern led me to this settee on 1stdibs. Now I just need to learn about Torbjorn Afdal.

Here is another example.

I find it interesting..
i find it interesting... that the 1stdibs example shows brass accents on the legs while the other one does not. I was under the impression this was more of an "american" design element. judging by the chair you found it looks like it would have come without those brass pieces (as Im sure you didnt remove them). any one have any insights, maybe the 1st dibs sofas legs were replaced?
Neither of those...
Neither of those attributions to Torbjorn Afdal offers anything in the way of substantiation. So, while I would chase down the lead, I wouldn't exactly call it case closed.
And the point about the brass accents is well made. I don't know what to make of it, except that it begs for an explanation.
