I am looking for a sideboard 50's Danish Modern in style. However, everything I have come across online so far have had INSANE asking prices. Can anyone recommend a modern manufacturer that duplicates the DM style successfully but is within a reasonable price range?

I've tried CL and several Google queries but no luck. It seems the particle board pieces reign supreme in these parts 🙂

Raw Materials and Manufacturing
costs make the equivalent new pieces so much more expensive than the originals. Could you not bear to have an orginal ?

Go with a vintage piece....
Go with a vintage piece. Take your time and you will most likely find a price you can work with. I live in California and there are a few Danish modern style furniture makers out here. While they do make quality furniture they all have astronomical prices! Much more than a vintage piece of equal or sometimes better quality and craftsmanship! One of the reasons for this is that materials are very expensive today, probably why particle board is used so often!!
If you are set on purchasing a quality non-particle board piece check out this site, but be warned, I have seen her sideboards selling in the 3-5 thousand dollar range!

PS. Look at the price difference between the newly produced pieces and the vintage ones! Still expensive but somewhat cheaper!

Seconding what exactly ?
at a rough estimate, I'd say a modern pastiche will cost about 10 times a vintage original - based on build quality.

Heal's
have a few nice looking ones- seem to start about the £900 mark
(for post above..relatively good prices? that McIntosh sideboard is 4 or 5 times the price you could pick it up on eBay for.. and we were talking about modern manufactured pieces)

Relativity of prices
You may need to explain what you mean by INSANE prices and what to you is reasonable.
I have prices on cabinets ranging from £495 - £4900 so there is scope.
Vintage or modern cabinets will mostly be made of particle board / chip board as it is a stable material to use, reduces overall production cost on raw materials AND most importantly does not warp or crack as solid timber can do.
You would not like your doors not to be able to close due to expanded timber no a great big crack split running the length of the side or top!
While you will pay top dollar for a peter hvidt cabinet in solid teak you can get just as good with un named items.
The criteria is in the eye of the beholder and if you want Wegner on a shoestring budget you need to be prepared to sacrifice along the way.

Are you in the USA?
You can find reasonably priced vintage sideboards on eBay. There are a number of sellers with reliable shipping track records.
