The dining table I have now is about 72 inches in length. There is just enough room for 3 chairs per long side and I use no chairs on either end. My dining area is relatively small and this works out perfectly. Except that I hate my dining table and I have been scouting one for some time.

Right now there is a seller on eBay selling Eames dining tables for a great price with free shipping. I want to buy this dining table (linked below) which is really in light ash which will match my ash DCMs.

I am wondering if I will still be able to fit 3 chairs on either side given the shape of this base. On my existing table there are just four simple straight legs, but I wonder if this base will force me to put a dining chair in either end, in which case it would not work for my space.

Does anyone have any insight into this? Thanks.

I would say...
No. I have this table in it's oval variety and only two DCMs fit comfortably on each side. You're right in assuming the base screws things up a bit because I found that only two chairs fit within the width of the base. I actually took the table down and am storing it in the garage as we too are looking to get a new dining table.
Hope that helps. I can add a pic later...

Aw, shucks. Guess it won't work then. I could always take one more measurement when I get back in town... but I think that's right.
