Lamp is having an identity crisis. Can anyone help dial in the probable homeland or, further, the maker. Thanks in advance.

It'd take some luck, but...
It'd take some luck, but perhaps if you unscrewed that metal base from the ceramic body, you'd find a marking. If the pottery itself were to be marked anywhere, it'd seem like that's where it'd be. Outside of that, I've no idea. Good luck!

My wife thinks it's origin...
My wife thinks it's origin is US since the light fixture has a US maker on it.
Is this a reasonable assumption. hmmmmmm
