Hi there !

My question is simple and has been partly covered many times but I'd like to see if we could get a definitive answer on this, so all Corbusier experts/owners, please step out :

"I'm looking for a "cheap" Corbusier Loveseat or Sofa , LC2 or LC3."

I don't care if is a copy or not. What I care about is the price and quality/lifetime of the product. It'll be used and won't be bought only for display. I'm not looking at the quality of the reproduction, meaning that it needs to be as close as possible to the original, I'm looking for craftsmanship/materials /construction quality. A couple of inches different than the original drawings won't matter to me unless it provides less support or becomes uncomfortable. I think you get the idea? What is the best quality product we can get for less ? I heard some copies were actually better than the licensed ones?!

To be honest I was going towards Alphaville Design replicas because it looked like they built quality at an affordable price but I read here somewhere that the quality wasn't that great?I still think a north American made product would be superior to those Chinese replicas?

Can you please help a desesperate man trying to make a choice ?

Thanks

Cassina
I boght the Cassina LC1s after looking for a long time. I did not buy it because of the signature or the name, but the quality is far superior to what is being replicated by everyone else. LC1 is somewhat of a complicated chair, with many metal seams and tensioners, etc. The imitations that I looked at you could tell that the seams were not well done, and the metal stock was inferior. The quality of te leather was also not the same. If you want have these for a lifetime, wait for the Cassina sale and you will save about 20% or so.

And for the LC2 and LC3
Sorry forgot to add - LC2 and LC3, again lots of seams so you need to look at them carefully. Also the quality of the leather is excellent on the Cassina - and at the end this is what you are paying for...

the one I have is not from Cassina but a very good repro, Cassina charges you a lot of money, DWR, "design OUT of reach"? , we don't have to go always trought this stores who they make you to pay a lot of money, just to say, "mine is Cassina, yours not", that's is BS to me, Cassina make their frames in Corea, everybody is now, all the Barcelona chairs, all from same place, frames from Corea, first steel producer now, leather from Italy, all of them, Argentina, best leather than Italy in this moments, learn how to but good repros, and spend money on traveling, that's my insane idea.
