.... yes, there really are some.

This one was designed in 1956 by Angelo Mangiarotti, and I love it.

Anyone else would like to share a favorite?

One of my fav non-Miller/Nelson clocks
I have a handful of pictures of my favorites. I should photobucket them. This one, pictured, is quite handsome. Don't forget the old non-Nelson thread (see link).

Pedro
Pedro Friedberg 1974
Sign language is a beautiful form of communication. Even with limited number of digits per hand.

now where talking time and
not wasting it!
I was getting so sick and tired of all the hype over nelson clocks...please if I have to look at "Even still more Nelson Clocks" I'm gonna crack or break a spring from being overwound!
Nice to see some non-nelson stuff...keep it up!

My first "good" clock
is this (probably) Italian clock totally make of alluminum. It's surface is deeply carved and it's diaginal lines across the face is disconserting since it's a totally square clock.
Absolutely beautiful, but I don't know who was responsible for this amazing clock. It's certainly looks like high-end 1960's.
It's 11 3/4" square
any ideas?

Sign language clock
WoofWoof--is that clock made out of cement? It is just about the coolest thing I have ever seen.

Mahogany
Friedbergs clock is hand carved Mahogany and lacquared. When I first saw this, my impression was ceramic. Quite expensive! The sign language part was my bit, as I don't think the artist intended any relationship.

If I only had a brain!
If I only had a brain! And I can see the muscleman so clearly! She lived on the edge of chinatown in NYC. her daughter was my neighbor in ohio and we stayed there when they were out of town. The hallway was lined 3 deep on the floor with a who's who of pop and other works contemporary to that era. I remember pawing through works and finding things like a jasper johns white flag and a cool walter demaria sculpture. There was also a cool rainbow colored cast urethane sculpture directly poured on the living room floor (beverly Pepper?). My fave was a rauschenberg piece on our bedside table. It was a stainless box that housed a plinth with a number of thick acrylic sheets. each one was clear and had some sort of multicolored engraving of a landscape and native american sayings. when you flipped them over a different image was visible. I still don't know how you could see though the sheet without seeing the opposing image. Awesome piece and huge guilty pleasure to be able to examine these works up close.

Ding ding ding! I just...
Ding ding ding! I just couldn't retrieve that file. Sometimes I feel that my brain has reached capacity and when I take in something new, something old gets put in deep storage.
