Although it was written over 10 years ago, I just stumbled across this draft paper online, by Per H. Hansen:  http://www.econ.upf.edu/ebha2004/papers/6D3.doc For those interested, I believe it does an excellent job of briefly encapsulating the rise of Danish Modern furniture last century, focusing on "design, production, marketing, and branding", each of which had an integral role in the movement's success. One of the highlights for me was the focus on specific cabinetmakers in the article. And while I personally would have liked to have seen a greater amount of text devoted to specifics of industrial scale furniture producers to balance out the examples, he does do a good job of analyzing both production models, and how they were sometimes integrated. Although it is a fairly short read, it both reinforced understandings I previously had, while filling in a few holes at the same time.
