Very nice. I was curious to see if I would like it (and I do). Many sotrage pieces I have seen by R. Wright are absent of pulls or handles, making it hard to open and close (especially after it is really old and doesn't properly from wear). I am glad to see yours is very nice and very functional. Great find!
Very cool. What is that avocado dinnerware you have in it?
Don't tell me Wright, that would be too funny.
That's one fun part of learning about design - finding unmarked items and realizing it's not just generic. Until yesterday, I didn't realize that Gilbert Rohde designed for Haywood Wakefield, so lots of that undervalued HW stuff on ebay could well be Rohde designs.
Funny this came up.
I have family visiting and just made reservations for next
week to visit the Russell Wright Design Center in Garrison NY.
http://www.russelwrightcenter.org/
The tour
is only once a day and limited to the summer months.
One and one half hour tour of the house, studio and landscape.
For just ten people.
Certainly not Graceland. 🙂
I imagine i'll be holding up the tour a bit with a thousand
question...
For any one visiting NY, a nice day trip just north of NYC...
the Russel Wright Design Center, 11am-12.30
Dia Beacon (20 miles north)
