Not sure rectangular would fit your space...
But here's a couple more...
The Nelson bench would give you a streamlined look with the slat spacings offering more view of the rug than most wooden jobs.
And while the Nakashima table may obliterate all criteria, I just think it's a lovely table. Slowly growing on me, one of my absolute faves really.

And finally...
Maybe this is the one? No sharp edges, slim profile and there's not a homier(for lack of a better word) coffee table in MCM design...

make your own!
I think you already have most of the supplies?
Try using those French Jelly Jar glasses for table legs and assuming they do stack, just glue them together to the height you desire and add a glass top.

I love the Nakashima. My fav right now. And I was also going to suggest the risom. I would eat a small mammal (living) for the Robsjohns Gibbings.

How about ALL glass?
Doesn't get much simpler than this.
I can understand why you're hesitant to buy a Noguchi, unfortunately it's become a cliche. (And, were it ME, I'd be forever arranging & rearranging the cowhide in a configuration that best interacts with the sculptural base.)
An all-glass table seems a good solution, for a place where you need a table but don't want a table-- an "invisible" table.

Pretty sure
I'm going to take one of the more 'useful' suggestions and go with the stacked jelly glasses. Then I'm going to put a sculpture of Don Rickles on top and keep my copies of Irritating People Monthy nearby.
Thanks to those of you who really did help. the CTM is kinda interesting...

I hope you didn't deem my suggestion irritating, Olive (?)
(I think the Noguchi table is beautiful, I was just sympathizing with your initial statement of its ubiquity!)

No, of course not WHC
I'm just in a mood over the posters in this thread and the one about your glasses where my honest, and I think, polite, questions were met with pointlessly unpleasant responses. I'm somehow missing the point of why the negativity and hostility is called for.

Actually, woody...
that's kinda cool, but more in an art piece kinda way. I think I've been convinced to release my hold on the glass top and probably the Noguchi. Whitespike is right, it's too simple and predictable a choice and I think that's why I've resisted committing to it for so long. But, as I said before, I just couldn't seem to want anything else! But right now the CTM is sticking in my head...

The CTM would be a great...
The CTM would be a great contrast to the heavy rectangular style of the Neo. Light and round. But similar in simpleness. I think it's my favorite suggestion so far specifically in how it would look with what you have. I like some of the other tables as much, but don't think your situ was as considered with those....
