Hello DA-ites - long time reader but first time poster.

My husband and I recently replaced our overstuffed sectional with some more streamlined (yet still very comfy) MCM furniture. It's still a work in progress (Womb will be reupholstered, cow skin is temporary, and the kitchen stool is not really our ottoman), but I would welcome your comments.

In particular, we're looking for a coffee table for in front of the couch (highest priority) and a table to go between the Papa Bear and the Womb.

As far as coffee tables go, function and form are important. We put our feet up on it, have 3-5 remotes out at any given time (so a little bit of storage would be good), and we have a budget of less than $2,000 USD (though would prefer closer to $1k if possible). I actually like the blond woods with the colors we have going on right now, and the light that comes into the room, but curious to hear others' thoughts.

As a postscript, I have to ask - can a Womb and a Papa be next to each other? Scale-wise they are compatible, and the womb is sooo comfortable.

A few coffee tables I like
These Brown Saltman tables I like. What do you think?
I particularly LOVE the first one, with the cantilevered lower shelf, which I can't find anywhere, so if you want to dissuade me feel free.
I actually like the look of the blond wood with the light in our room (and our dining room - open behind the Papa/Womb - has a lot of darker wood). But totally open to suggestions.
Our couch is about 103" long.

Eames ETR is the best of all possible coffee tables.
In my opinion.

Thanks Fastfwd!
I have also loved the look of that table.
Do you think the ETR's black top would look OK with the earthier hues I have? And do you think the skinnier elipse will fill out the space enough? (Though at its widest 29" it is a little wider than the table I posted, which are about 25"). I certainly like the length.
Thank you again! I'm posting a pic just for fun because I love reading the threads with pictures.

Hmm
A long Nelson bench could be a good option.

Nelson bench
I think it would look fabulous in front of that sofa.
The ETR would be OK, but I don't love the white OR the black in your space. The black might look a bit Hallowe'en with the sofa and the white would drown out your wonderful cowhide.
I think the Papa and the Womb are sorta OK next to each other, but could you maybe move one to the other side of the sofa? It'd give them more breathing room. They do look a bit crowded to me. And I agree, the Womb is the most fought over seat in my house...cats included. One our kitties lies in it on his back with his back feet up against the back cushion. He looks so amazingly comfortable when he does that!
BTW...just a nitpicking tidbit, but the foot stool in front of the Papa Bear has. got. to. go.

Good ideas.
I think I prefer white for the ETR also. Esp since we're considering a tulip table as a side table.
I love the look of the Nelson bench, but we really do use our coffee table as a cocktail table a lot of the time - so those slats worry me. Do people who have these as tables generally add a tray on top if they intend to use it as a table? (Then I'd worry about the tray... or, really, the dog knocking the tray...!)
We also spend a lot of time on computers, working, in the living room - so there are phones, pens/pencils etc, bluetooth headsets all about - I worry the slats would not work for our table - though I agree the look would be so nice!
Maybe we need to have a couple tables that we rotate according to our immediate needs...

Olive!
Oh yeah, tiny nitpick - it's only subtly out of place I think. Ha. I'm embarassed to even have the Linens n Things kitchen stool in that picture!
I wish I could move the two chairs on opposite ends, but we have an impossibly framed living room: to the left of the sofa is a wide open doorframe to our entry aka "mud room", and where I've taken the picture from is an equally wide (60+ inches) entryway to our den/office. The corner between those two entryways is taken up by our flat screen TV (was very inspired to hide away all my cords after seeing the beautiful pix in the recent flat screen thread). So my chair options are 1) only have the Papa in the living room; 2) substitute the womb for something else (there is a matching Papa for sale but I don't know if we can afford to spring for the twin...)
As a side note, what on earth might one put in front of a Papa as a footrest that is not as tall as the chair's usual ottoman but more like 7-10" off the ground? I say some upholstered phone books, but other than that I'm coming up short.

Here's a Brown Saltman I used to own that would fit the bill I think.

Thanks
for the continued input!
Fastfwd - you have me intrigued - do you have the perfect 10" footrest in mind?
Norm - Your photo is not showing up on my computer - is there a link to it somewhere? Is it one of the expanding tables with the formica in the center? (That's another one I had considered - picture below - though not sure if the base would be too heavy for the "floating" sofa). I'm in California so I like the idea of having some CA design incorporated.
Tulipman - I hadn't thought of the Noguchi, mostly because of the length of the sofa. We were thinking of getting a different rug. This is just one we had in storage that we brought out for the new furniture, so it doesn't have to be considered permanent. But you're right - if we keep this rug we don't necessarily want to completely cover it.

I Like the Noguchi Glass Coffee table
Either Walnut or ebonized base.Would work well with your ponyskin,as it has an amorphous shape, and in my opinion, the longer table options would serve to only accentuate the length of the couch,(which looks very long) anyhow, and overpower the rug.I should think you'd want to counterbalance, yet compliment it.The Noguchi table would look great with the Womb and Papa Bear chairs, too.Anyhow, that's my $.02!

Working now?
Tried to edit to make the pic work for you...it's showing up on my computer.
It's not the one you show in your pic but is all wood with a large drawer(with brass pulls) approx. 3ft square on four square legs.
I'll try another.
