Does anyone know where to buy those heavy duty clips to hang rugs on a wall with? They're like suspender clips, but obviously need to be strong enough to hold a carpet. My specific need is for a Caucasian rug, 6x8, not too heavy. All I can find online are hideous garish sets with rods and clips. I just want the clips! Any ideas?
This way may be more invasive than you'd like,
but I've had a rug hanging happily on my wall for years, suspended with no visible clips at all, thus:
Cut a wooden slat (about two inches wide) to the length of the top edge of your carpet. Drill a 1/4-
inch hole every two feet or so along the slat, a little above the centerline. Use the slat as a stencil to transfer the positions of the holes to the wall. Put a small nail in the wall at each point you've marked. Let the nails project just a tiny bit more than the thickness of the slat. (If you're concerned about the possibility of rust on the nail heads, dab 'em with clear nail polish). Now, push a row of small brass brads (or tacks, or nails, whatever you call them) gently between the rug fibers in a line close to the top edge, and lightly tap them into your slat, without actually bashing the rug too hard. The brad heads will disappear amid the texture of the rug. Hang the slat, with rug attached, on the row of nails in the wall. It will float there with no sagging and no visible means of support. All for about $1.98.
