Laphroaig -
That's my kind of poison! Ardbeg is even better (or Caol Ila, or Lagavulin). If you can appreciate the sweet flavours of iodine, algae and saltwater there's no better whisky than the ones they make on the lovely island of islay.

'usque beagh'
or 'water of life!'
Te Beagh. pronounced 'che vek'
But that's Canada.
In NY the Balvenie will do, one cube.
(in a Eva Zeisel glass)
I've not had a cocktail since last holiday.
Oh so needed.
Looking forward to holiday cheer...

You know, being from...
You know, being from Mississippi and of the middle class I haven't ventured far into fancy libations. Wine gives me the worst heartburn you could dream of, and lately so does beer. I've never been able to drink any beer with much substance. So my entire life I've been drinking High Life. I've only added a couple of beers to my list, including Pilsner Urquel, Modelo Especial, among others.
And I've never been social enough to learn all the drinks at the bar. I've stuck to Maker's Mark for years.
Right now I'm drinking a shitty, premixed margarita. With an "herbal jazz" cigarette (as George Harrison calls it) ... which is my poison of choice.

My personal fav for vodka is Reyka
from Iceland. Very clean crisp flavor with a mineral-y finish. Grey Goose is OK as is Ketel One. Absolute tastes like Drano to me. If you are looking for a really different flavor try Luksosowa (I think I spelled that right) which is a traditional Polish potato vodke. Kai from Thailand is also interesting, it's a rice vodka. Makes an unique martini if you use sake instead of vermouth and garnish with a thin slice of cucumber.
Whitespike, I'm available for cocktail lessons 😉

Well, Olive. I would like to know a few cocktails that are tasty, for those that don't like the bite of heavy alcohol. But something that isn't considered overly sissy ... My wife isn't much of a drinker....

Being that grass is illegal...
Being that grass is illegal in most places, would it be in bad form to ask who enjoys a toke? Just curious - as it seems it would be rather common among design junkies...

Dry Martinis?
On a business trip some years ago my coworker requested a Martini in a Munich bar and was brought a small glass of vermouth. "No,no" he said, "I want a Martini Cocktail." The manager promptly fetched the "English speaking Waiter" and the order was explained. What was wanted was both Vermouth and Gin. "Yes sir" said the English speaking waiter "At once, sir." As he left, my colleague added "and make that dry".
In five minutes the waiter returned. On his tray were three ponies of Vermouth and three of Gin. When you ask for drei in Germany you get drei without fail.
Say goodnight Gracie.

Egads!
That's hilarious...both the drei and the sechs!
Just cuz I'm in the mood...
Cocktail of the Day: Cowboy Cosmo
2-3z good quality Tequila, a reposado is the the best choice
1/2 oz Cointreau (don't use triple sec it's too sweet)
1 Tsp of lime juice (pulp removed or use bottled, but not Rose's, it's too sweet)
4oz Cranberry juice
wedge of lime
Mix together all but the lime and shake on ice. Pour into a 'martini' glass and garnish with the lime wedge
