My girlfriend's parents got 2 'Sandra' sofa's with ottoman, designed by Annie Hieronimus for Cinna in 1977.
After more than 20 years of heavy use, the leather became all worn.
They would like to replace the old covers with new ones. Unfortunately these sofa's are no longer in production, and my e-mail to Ligne Roset remained unanswered.
Anyone who has an idea when Cinna stopped producing these and if there's a chance of finding new (or vintage) covers for it? Please let me know. Any information would be most welcome.

new upholstery
hi,
my parents did not want to part with their old Leolux seats, but wear and tear got the better of the original fabric. They had the chairs reupholstered by a Belgian firm called 'de Rore' in Deinze. They were quite pleased with the results.
good luck !

reupholstery bis
.. sorry, just seen that i forgot to add the link to their website. You may want to seek a firm closer to home to perform the operation tough. Just make sure that they know what they are doing. And ask for a price quote beforehand. And make sure that the new fabric is quality stuff (resistant to light, use, etc. cfr. Ploegstoffen or similar)if you are already willing to pay such a cost for labour. It would be a pity to do the work and pay the price if the fabric is not going to last. Also you my want to seek expert counsel on whether it is only necessary to replace the external upholstery, or that the internal stuffing needs some help after decades of use too.

Hi ite
I live in Belgium,... Deinze is only 10 minutes away from where I work. 😉 Thanks for the info, I might consider having them reupholstered by someone, although we would really like a Cinna cover.
greets,

original cover quest ..
ok, i understand. well, it is a long shot since (my guess) the odds of finding an original cover are probably not that high. (sorry, i do not mean to discourage you 😮 ) but if you want to exhaust all options, there are probably some other avenues you might try (if you have not already tried them):
1. for finding a secondhand cover, post a message on as many places where design interested people might see your note (eg. post a free ad on fiftie fiftie's website
http://www.fiftie-fiftie.be/
and email vintage shops with details of your request. Some are willing to keep an eye out for you an will contact you first when they meet the item of your description. Eg a shop close to Deinze (though i have never bought anything from them, so i have no personal info)
http://360degree.free.fr/
there are several other, similar sites in Belg & Holland. (In general however i would think that chances of success are rather limited.)
2. a perhaps more practical strategy: look up all distributors of Cinna (eg from their website). First call the shop closest to you and/ or the shop where the sofa originally was bought. Explain which sofa you have, and that you would like an original Cinna cover for it. Ask whether they could order one for you. If the answer is affirmative, problem solved. If not, ask when this sofa item went out of production. If the item went out of production quite recently (such as one or two years ago), there is a chance that some shop may still have some backstock of loose covers. At least if such loose covers could originally be purchased separately from the sofa. In that case, you may want to call all Cinna shops with your question.
In my opinion the last method is the better one. The policy of answering questions from 'particulieren' differs from company to company. Some companies are not too good at returning mails. Shops are often both more eager to sell and more accustomed to handle 'special' requests. Again, some shops are more inclined to handle 'special' requests than others, so you might want to ask your question in two different shops before reaching an end conclusion.
hope this helps,
ite

Sandra seen on ebay belgium....
Hi....I bought a set via ebay Belgium about 3 years ago....since seen several on there and French ebay....they often go quite cheap....a lot cheaper than the ones I bought! I'm now setting up home in Brazil and apart from my daughters and tea bags, the sofas are the only thing I miss from UK! I would also say that Belgium in general seems to be the place to look. They seem to have sold well there.Good luck.
