My wife and I picked up this teak sofa and settee at an auction this past weekend. Does anyone know who designed them?
We love them regardless of the dedigner, but it would be nice to know the history of the piece. Can anyone help???
Note the cigar shape of the arm rests and the kind of unique utility/beauty of the back side teak. Everything appears to be solid teak as it is an extremely heavy piece. Any help would be appreciated.

I don't know who made the set but a photo of one of them without any cushions at all might help. A clear side view with good lighting would be good, too. And while I'm at it, a well-lit closeup of the wood grain never hurts; if you can show the end grain on the arm or a back post, great!
Did you go over every square inch of them looking for marks?

All good suggestions. I took the original pictures at the auction so I apologize for the poor lighting and lack of helpful views. That being said, I did determine the the piece was "Made in Poland".
I just found that out today when we picked the sofa and settee up. It is a beautiful piece.
So, given this fact, does anyone know anything about teak furniture manufacture in Poland? With a name like Stravinski, you'd think I'd know, but I don't. Any help would be appreciated.
I'll get some additional photos and post them.

Hi there,
Pretty sure I know what it is. I sold the am chairs from this suite, they were early Ikea, can't remember the name of the designer (Erik ?). Lovely thick shaped solid arms. Very nice.
Cheers,
Adam.

Nice work Adam, Apparently the designer is Erik Worts. Once source we found indicated it was done for IKEA in 1962 and the set was named Kolding. I've not found a reference to Polish manufacture though. He was apparently a Danish designer. When I get additional pictures, I'd love to get some opinions on the type of wood used. It looks like teak to me, but my knowledge is not deep on wood types.

Here is a photo of an IKEA Kolding high back chair. It does look like it has the same arms, or similar. I still can't quite tell if it is the same or not. But it certainly does indicate that Erik Wørts was the designer, which is interesting in its own right, because I did not know that IKEA ever hired well known designers.

Thanks Eric. I found the photos below of the model we purchased. They match in every detail, including the chair rail detail on the back (if that's what it is). Our cushions are non tufted in a whitish/gray color. I believe it is in teak. I've seen models in both oak and teak. I believe ours are teak.
