I am trying to determine whether a chrome rocker in the style of Milo Baughman is considered to be a Milo Baughman or just some common knockoff. Does it garner respect or, even though it is gorgeous and in very good condition, not? The attached tag identifies it as a Selig product. I am near the Phoenix area, and could take it to an expert. The attached web link is not the chair itself: my chair is the same with different upholstery. Any advice that you could offer would be much appreciated!
THE VOICE OF REASON-
If you see the chair as "gorgeous and in very good condition", what does it matter if people on the internet believe that it "garner(s) respect"?
If you are the end user, you already have your answer due to your perception of the chair being "gorgeous and in very good condition".
If you are trying to sell the chair, you should be more creative.
Selig doesn't have anything to do with Milo Baughman.
When you say the tag shows...
When you say the tag shows it as selig do you mean the chair has a tag or did you mean the photo was tagged as selig ?
I've seen this chair lots of times as Baughman and I'm 99.99% sure it has nothing to do with him. I've seen these referred to as coming from Italy and recently I've seen a few that look brand new but upholstered in distressed leather so I've come to the conclusion that who ever made them is still making them or they are now being knocked off.
I'd be very happy if it turned out to be Selig and that it actually had some age to it. Selig have a few other chairs that are commonly sold as being Milo chairs.
A tag is attached to the cush...
A tag is attached to the cushion that lists the manufacturer as Selig. It was in my mother's house for many years, I'm guessing that I saw it there first at least 30, 35 years ago. I don't know how she got it. She lived in Los Angeles, and loved the thrill of the hunt of going to estate and garage sales: I'm guessing that's where she found it.
