After
After World War Two some aircraft factories went over to (and reverted to) furniture making.
This looks just the sort of thing that would have been produced by one of those factories.
Both Ernest Race and James Leonard in the UK used these methods, as surplus wartime aluminium was not subject to rationing.
(although I'm not suggesting your chair is by either of them)
Where are you in the world?
Thanks
Thanks all for the feedback.
We're based in London, where we bought the chair, but don't know any more about its origins. We had wondered about the post war context as it has the feel of a bubble car about it. It is very similar in overall shape to the Flamingo chair by Race, but without any further identifying marks we may never know more.
Thanks again.
Thanks again...
This is getting interesting.
It looks like there are strong similarities - but also some differences - when comparing with the Race or Lancel chairs; the feet or the curve of the back are examples. Not sure we've found it yet, but we'll keep looking and let you know.
Thanks again. Appreciate your input.
