I was wondering if anyone had firsthand experience with the chrome and matte enamel finish used by Cassina on the Le Corbusier furniture. I was about to order a LC4 and was debating between the 2 finishes for the chaise frame. I actually like the look and price of the matte finish but am concerned with the longevity of this finish. Does it scratch easily, will It start to flake or peel with time... ? Is it worth puttin up the extra cash for chrome if it will last longer? Any advice would be great... Thanks!

The matte enamel is more...
The matte enamel is more prone to scratch than the chrome (which will only have problems if it is close to a salt water location like Miami or the Hamptons). But, having said that, if you are careful, the matte will hold up very well. A little wear and tear with furniture is no big deal, you will not ruin the chaise.
Basically, if you are someone who worries about every little detail and want everything to be "perfect" get the chrome. On the flip side, the matte finish is special and adds character to the chaise.

to follow up: the matte...
to follow up: the matte finish will not peel or flake, it just is "softer" and will scratch if you scrape it hard against a wall or in moving.

What you want vs. What the rest of the world wants
If you have a strong preference for the enamel, buy that. Life's too short -- and Cassina's prices are too high -- to furnish your house with anything but exactly what you desire.
On the other hand... If you'd be equally happy with either finish, buy the chrome so you can get the best price if you ever resell it. It's like buying a Ferrari: YOU might like green or pink or powder blue, but if you care about resale value, there's no point in getting anything but red.

Oh man... A hot pink frame......
Oh man... A hot pink frame... Imagine! It's actually matte black, so I don't think it'll be at all garish, but I get the analogy!

And there's another reason...
And there's another reason to get the "standard" color/material/finish: It's probably in stock and can be delivered quickly.
Just found out that it'll be at least another five weeks -- I've already waited two -- before my non-standard Bird covers arrive from Knoll. Sigh...
At least they'll look pretty when they finally do get here:
