Just thought I'd get back to speaking about design (rather than Whitespike's beautiful gf - happy now HP?) by starting this thread. what do our forumers consider the most beautiful automotive design in the world today? And I'm only speaking form, not function, because if it came down to function, it would have to be something reliable (cf, Japanese).
i just got yesterday a Le...
i just got yesterday a Lexus suv and it sure rides nice I had a Porsche cayanee one of the best looking cars but one of the crappiest rides.
you would think they would get a good ride but the 6300 lb car was to heavy for the engine ,
I did not have the super turbo only the s turbo and i thought it was a dog,
I have also had several ML mercedes suv and they were great riding cars , and own the small convertiable that my wife drives and loves,(to small for me)
Never owned a BMW but my brother has the big convertible and loves them ,
The design on all these cars is great
I just can't get my head around cars as a design object...
They undeniably are and they get most guys all fired up but I just can't seem to drum up the interest.
Cars to me are tools.
I want them to operate effeciently and reliably and be enjoyable to use. I don't want to be embarrassed looking at it in my driveway but other than that who cares what they look like.
And I'd like them all to stop emmitting greenhouse gases...
All tools are designed
Wouldnt you agree, Olive? And form should depend on function, no? So - if the prime function is to cause envy, to go horribly fast, or to boast your wealth (3 things us boys tend to like doing) doesnt a sleek, pretty, car fit the bill?
My entry is the 1993-1995 (in the US) RX-7 from Mazda. Long before the small and inexcusably annoying "Miata" there existed the RX-7. Powered by a twin turbo rotary engine (no pistons) the car was (and is) an exquisite blend of technology and design.
