There is more than one version of this concept of a tea cart that was made by Poul Hundevad.
I believe yours was designed by Carlo Jensen. This is from my Anton Dam. It does not say Poul Hundevad was the maker, but I've only ever seen Carlo Jensen pieces made by Poul Hundevad, and there are quite a few other known Poul Hundevad made pieces in there, including others designed by Carlo Jensen.
And here is an odd photo of the other version, which was smooth beveled edges on the "mothership", round legs on the daughter tables, and beveled edges on the flaps of the daughters as well.
Note I don't know who designed this tea trolley, but as you can see from the maker's mark it was also made by Poul Hundevad. I think the Danish Furniture Index might say it was design by Poul Hundevad, or some other Hundevad, or both, if I remember correctly.
It is such a strange design, it requires its own vocabulary.
I suppose I should have said drop-leaves of the daughters, technically speaking. But I rather prefer "flaps" in this case. And "mothership." It lends an absurd naval aviation feeling to the piece. As if the mothership is an aircraft carrier. And the little birds are sent out to assault the honored guests with tea and crumpets.
I actually have one of these, of the latter smooth beveled edge variety, but the mothership is in salvage condition having had her legs torpedoed off. One of the little daughter tables sits next to my grandfather's Papa Bear. It is the only piece I can find that is so small that it does not get up the courage to try and fight with the Bear. And it is so small the Bear has even noticed it yet.
Lief I completely missed this thread, I don't know how! Thank you! They were a gift to my father who loves them. It's nice to be able to visit with them (and my parents....) regularly! I inherited my interest in furniture from him, so I feel it's only right to share with him too! Though the next set I come across will be for my home. The set is used daily, and is much loved. The craftsmanship is amazing, and they serve their purpose so beautifully!
