Hi, I'm a total novice when it comes to collecting but I found a beautiful dinning suite at an auction, fell in love with it and bought it.
I bought a white suite with 9 chairs. The table can seat 10 and a buffet. The chairs are stamped Bodafors design Carl Malmsten and 1959 or 1964 (chairs were probably purchased at diffrent times. They all say made in Sweden. The Table and buffet all have Bodafor, Carl Malmsten stamp. The suite is not in terrible shape but there is a lot of small chips in the white paint on all the pieces and some discolouration on the table top and buffet top.

The suite is solid wood and I think the white paint is original. The fabric on the chair seats is a blue/grey strip I think it might be original too but I don't know.

I know Carl Malmsten was a famous designer but I don't if this suite is of any value because of all the chips. I was originally going to fill in the chips with a bit of white paint or even strip it but if this suite is a collectable I wouldn't want to devalue it by a sloppy repair job.

Is it worth while to take it to a profesional restorer?

If any one has an opinon or idea I would appreciate some input.
