What should I use to clean and condition leather veneer? Two of my mid-century pieces have thin leather veneers such as this veneer on my desk. Both veneers are dyed slightly green.

I'm particularly concerned about conditioning the leather. My coffee table's veneer is fragile. If I were to rub it with a slightly damp cloth, for example, the dye would rub off onto the cloth.

.
When you use the term clean you will remove some of the surface many people equate patina = unclean.I have thin coats of carnauba wax rubbed on to leather to protect the surface. Most likey your tables are surface dyed/coated not analine dyed...they look great from what I can see ...mellow/subtle(green leather a favorite of mine). If you like new looking buy new and replace as the bloom of youth has passed. Many oils and "feeding"leather will darken and make the leather brittle with time...also direct sun is hell on leather...

Thank you for your reply. I'm...
Thank you for your reply. I'm going to try Rennaisance Wax to preserve the leather. Your note about removing patina is good. Frankly I'm not sure if I'm removing patina, dirt or dye from another piece I have, a circa 1945 coffee table with a leather veneer. Is there any way to know if what I'm removing is patina or dye? If I cover patina with wax, will it harm the leather over time?
Thanks again for pointing me in the right direction.
