I just purchased this set of Danish Selig Chairs at a garage sale. Are these Jensen "Z" chairs by chance? Does anyone happen to know the value? They do not have cushions. Thanks so much!

Thank you for the info on ...
Thank you for the info on designer Ib Kofod-Larsen. I'm a little confused..depending on the website, Selig "Z" Chairs are attributed to Poul Jensen,Finn Juhl, and Ib Kofod-Larsen.Do you happen to know who the original designer was?

I believe...
It is Kofod-Larsen though I do not have definitive information either. I do see the "Poul Jensen" attribution quite often, but I have no idea where the notion came from or if that was even a real designer. The name is only ever cited in the context of the Z chair.

Herein lies the problem...
Here's a page from an old Selig catalog (image "borrowed" from eBay). The items on the left hand page say "designed by Ib Kofod-Larsen;" the items on the right hand page are "designed by Poul Jensen."

Interesting...
The coffee table on the left page was just on eBay recently. Very nice design.
The ottoman on the right page looks like Kofod-Larsen style.

another Selig danish chair
I own a pair of marked Selig Danish lounge chairs which look derivative of Kofod-Larsen's Elizabeth chair (see Danish Chairs by Oda). Mine are teak not mahogany but structurally identical ('floating' upholstered seat on wood frame) except the frame is not as sinuous as Elizabeth's.
Are they Kofod-Larsen as well? Why would a designer knock off his own work?

Most of us
in the states are returning from a holiday.
Thanksgiving.
I visited my family, a four hour drive south to the Eastern Shore.
And then we take small drives to see the childhood sites and
get away from the family insanity.
My grandmother was American indian so i cook her specialties,
corn-pone, oyster stew, etc...a wonderful holiday.
Many roadside junk shops. Usually a nasty old computer somewhere
and a crazy person on e-bay. Never price tags on the good stuff when
we see a few random pieces. Ikea is so exotic that it is usually twice the
store price. (no ikea nearby)
So what do i spot from a distance? And i said 'oh shit, not another chair'.
This one had a price tag, 30 bucks. What the heck was it doing there?
The nice thing about DA is that the catalog is posted so i know the cushions
are a bit wrong. Just the back one is a bit high. And the seat is repaired
so bringing back the clips and original straps seems impossible.
The teak is minty. Just a bit dusty. The cushions are brand new, an odd
pink/salmon mohair. Strange but fun find.
I don't think i could have cushions made for 30 bucks.
It had an bent ugly brassy headboard on top of it but i saw the 'z' arm
and remembered this post.

I found this, which may clear up the
Poul Jensen/Kofod Larsen argument?!
Stumbled across it whilst trying to find out the year the Z-Chair was designed. Does anyone know?
